Everyone has storms that come into their lives. Whether they are emotional, financial, physical, mental, or … storms bring turmoil and difficulty. No matter what the storm, however, there is HOPE!
When everything around you is in ruins, turn to God. Put your trust wholly in Him and He will help you through the hard times of life. There is a scripture in the book of Jeremiah that says this: “For I know the thoughts I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” You can move forward in life and things will get better if you will put your trust in the Lord. As difficult as that may be at this time in your life, trust God to bring deliverance to you in your situation.
There are several examples of people in the Bible who went through hard things but God brought them through. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. He went from being fairly well off to being a slave in a foreign country. In one day everything in his life changed for the worse. Then he was falsely accused of a crime and put in jail for several years. I’m sure he went through times where he had no hope and thought things would never change. But Joseph persevered through all that. In one day everything changed for him. Just as in one day his life fell apart, in one day his life became good again. He became second in command of the country of Egypt.
Daniel was thrown in a lions’ den. (Daniel chapter 6) Daniel trusted God who sent an angel to shut the mouth of the lions. He was facing certain death but God intervened.
Paul was in a ship in a terrible storm and it looked like everyone would certainly die. (Acts chapters 27&28) This storm lasted fourteen days. It seemed like all was lost but Paul fasted and prayed and God sent an angel to him to tell him that everyone in the ship would be saved. The ship finally ran aground. Paul was a prisoner on this ship and the council of the soldiers guarding him and the other prisoners was to kill them so they would not escape. But the centurion wanted to save Paul and commanded that they cast themselves in the sea and get to land. Paul’s life was spared again. Amidst all the trouble and turmoil God was still protecting Paul, just like He will protect you in your storm. Paul and everyone he was with swam to an island for safety.
Just when it seemed like things were settling down, Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake. He shook the snake off. Be like Paul and shake this thing off. The Bible says that everyone watched for his hand to swell or for him to fall down suddenly but neither happened. God was again protecting Paul and taking care of him.
Others are watching you to see if this snake that has bitten you is going to cause you to fall. Be like Paul and shake this off.
Paul endured a storm at sea, a shipwreck, soldiers wanting to kill him, and a poisonous snakebite. It seemed like every circumstance was against him. Paul overcame each one of these things because he believed in God.
You too can overcome every circumstance in your life with the help of God. Don’t give up. Keep moving forward. Your situation will get better. Trust in God!
